Whenever you have NPs on hand, try to deposit them all into the Neopian Bank
before the start of a new day in order to collect more interest.
Interest can be collected once a day.
However, remember to always collect your bank interest at the start of the new day before depositing or withdrawing any NPs cos if you do that,
the interest for that day disappears.
As you go along, keep upgrading your account to a better one, from Junior Saver to Neopian Student to Bronze Saver and so on. As you upgrade, the interest amount you get will get higher.
Some people put their NPs in the bank to keep ghosts from getting to it.
Actually, this is not true, as ghosts can steal NPs from you when you have none, leaving you with a negative amount!
For example, today, 40 NPs was stolen from me, so I had -40 NPs.
I went to the bank and withdrew 100 NPs, but then I only had 60 NPs, so in reality, the ghosts were stealing from my bank account.
Personally, I believe that you should not hold more than 5000 NPs on hand most of the time unless you are restocking at shops.
This is because firstly, you may meet the dreaded Tax Beast. He will take away 10% of what you are holding on hand.
For example, if I am holding 1000 NPs, he will take away 100 NPs from me should I meet him.
This is a random event.
Note: The Tax Beast does not take the money in your bank!
A second reason to hold not more than 5000 NPs on hand is because of Illusen the Earth Faerie.
This kind-hearted, generous faerie will top-up the amount of NPs you are holding to 5000 NPs when she meets you in a random event.
For example, if I am holding 2000 NPs when I meet her, she will give me 3000 NPs to make it 5000 NPS.
Now is that cool or what?! =)
