Mystery Island Trading Post

This is where Neopians go to sell/trade items that are "unbuyable" in their own shops, unbuyable meaning anything over 100,000 Neopoints, items with that high a price cannot be purchased from shops.

The Trading post can be used for the sale and trade of items with a limit of 600,000 NP values, items you wish to sell/Trade for more than 600K nps. must be placed in "The Neopian Auction House".

You can go to the trading post and search for ANY item and it's almost guaranteed to show up. To Search The TP, go to Browse Lots and type in the item you desire. You search the TP the same as you would the Shop Wiz, containing your phrase or identical to your phrase. You can also search by Username and Lot number. The username being that of the person that set up the trade. The lot number being the unique number given the trade automaticaly by neopets when it's set up.

Trading Post "Lots" have a limit of 10 items per lot, you can, of course, have multiple lots up for trade. But bear in mind that if you want to remove a trade, you'll have to wait for 15 minutes after it was setup and all trades are automatically cancelled after two weeks!

You can set up your own trades by clicking on create a new trade at the bottom of the page. Your inventory will pop up with empty boxes next to each item. Check the item and you will add it to your new trade. At the bottom of that page there is a WishList... that is where you type what you are willing to trade your items for. Or you can also put weather or not it's a reserved trade. Examples: TGIF donations, Star_shoppe donations, Star_books donations.

Other Neopians place "bids" ( offers of Neopoints and/or Items ) for the items you have in Trades. When someone has bid on your lot/s you will recieve a message at the top of your screen exactly like a new neomail. Click on it and it will take you to a page where you can see what they've bid and accept or reject their offer. Accepted and rejected offers on lots you've bid on also show up same as neomails.

Once an offer has been made on your Trading Post Items, you must then consider carefully if it is a fair trade before you accept the offer. The old adage "Buyer Beware" works both ways here... "seller Beware" also! Know what you are getting before you accept any offers! If you aren't sure, ask in the Guild Message Board for assistance. ;)

For the most part Trades ask for a specific item, some state nothing. Before you decide to bid on ANYTHING, copy and paste the item you want into the Shop Wiz. Find out the worth of it to ensure that you aren't getting ripped off. Often times people will try to pass off junk or lesser items as unbuyables. **ALWAYS CHECK THE WIZ** That's the NUMBER ONE rule for The Trading Post. Never believe what the trader says about the item he's trading, EVEN if it LOOKS like the unbuyable you want... CHECK!!! There are alot of useless items that resemble unbuyables and if they can get you to pay hundreds of thousands of np for something worth 500np they will. If it checks out try your hand at the trades that aren't requesting anything, yet don't try to bid a junk item for an unbuyable. Most likely it won't even be deleted it will just sit... or "rot" as many TPers say.

Many Neopians use the Trading Post as a "Storage" area, particularly those who save dubloons for use in the Smugglers Cove, as it is much faster to retrieve items from trades than from your deposit box. ;)

I have also seen the Trading Post used as a "Gallery" by some users that just wish to disply items without using up space in their shops.
