Venue: Civil Service Club
3rd Floor Lobby, 60 Tessensohn Road
8th March-7th June 2004 *
Admission : FOC

dear avid collectors, hobbyists, history buffs and all you who share our fascination for old things from the past, you are invited to view The Daffyhong Pte Collection - an exhibition of Chinese folk ceramics @ the Civil Service Club.

The display features 3 themes:
a. Blue-and-white
b. Famille-rose
c. Bamboo leaves on coral red

Unlike imperial wares, folk ceramics as the name implies is generally regarded as the poor man's toys, having lived out its use as the poor man's untensils. But If I may misquote that great folksy poet, Wordsworth, "....to me the meanest pot ever fired , can give thoughts that do lie too deep for tears...." and I daresay, these whimsical little pots have their own mysterious appeal and their own following.

Each piece has been carefully selected for its relevance to our themes or because it represents a vanished lifestyle or a continuous tradition from the past. We hope you enjoy the visual beauty as well as the brief notes relating the stories behind the items.

This is an on-going exhibition and the displays will be changed every 3-4 months. So please keep a lookout for new updates.

Special thanks to our generous host Civil Service Club, for providing the space and support to make this exhibition possible.
