SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

I am a highly experienced team leader, capable of effectively motivating a multi-discipline, multinational work force, including graduates under training. Experienced mainly in oil & gas but also petrochemical, power generation & marine engineering. Involved in projects including EPIC contracts (commissioning / construction / design /planning), operation & maintenance. Although a mechanical engineer I have had considerable exposure to instrumentation/process engineering. Computer literacy in various software packages .

JUNE 1997 TO PRESENT: Brunei Shell Petroleum Senior Commissioning Engineer (multi-discipline) / Company Rep.

Work with Engineering Project Management Department. Development of Commissioning Strategy (bases of planning, procedures and organization) for all major projects. Technical Support and Lead Engineer. Offshore / onshore oil & gas projects.

Brought into EPM organization June 1997 to take on the duties the EPM/13 (Engineering Department Head of Commissioning) while EPM/13 was acting as EMP/1. Working via Technip Engineering Brunei under EDE/90 contract.

APRIL 1995 TO 31 JULY1996 :

SARAWAK SHELL:

Mechanical Engineer / multi-discipline site coordinator on MLNG DUA PROJECT .

Employed by the Engineering Gas Project Department ( EGP ) on the onshore gas / LNG terminal in Bintulu . Employed via Shapadu on EGP engineering service contract. Coordinate the site activities of mechanical/process/E&I Engineers and technicians. Coordinating site activities for a total commissioning site team of 40+ personnel plus liaisons with main construction contract engineers and technician. Plants started up on time meeting the requirements of a very tight schedule

My duties included:-

Multi-discipline site coordination of commissioning activities. Training of local staff .Checking equipment specifications and drawings and were necessary recommending design changes Monitoring construction and checking hook up is as per AFC drawings. Drafting and implementing test procedures for various mechanical equipment. Preparing and implementing start up procedures. Preparing work packs and check sheet packs with overviews. Reporting on any deviations to specification/standards. Preparing /following up punch list and hand over to Operations Department.

On this major project I was am mainly involved in :-

Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Commissioning Engineer( multi- discipline)

Employed by the operations department ( OPD ) on offshore oil & gas projects. Employed via O.T.S. ( Delton Group ) on OPD Commissioning Contract.

My duties included:-

Coordinating multi-discipline testing and commissioning activities. Start up and commissioning of oil and gas projects after hand over from the from the project/construction department. Although a multi-discipline position, the emphasis was on operation/process including instrument loop checks and checking shut downs against cause and effect matrix. Involved in pre-commissioning checks, acceptance, punch list focal point, commissioning/start up, performance testing and technical support during initial operation .On occasions have acted as Authorized Signatory for the validation of work permits ( the equivalent of an OIM). I am an Authorized Signatory for all offshore areas. In addition to commissioning and project work I have quite often been involved trouble shooting and none routine operational activities . We are now producing detailed commissioning procedures and manuals in-house because of the consistently poor quality of previous manuals produced by engineering consultants.

FEBRUARY 1990 TO AUGUST 1992:

Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd./Shell.

Acting Head of Support Department Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Employed by Operations/Maintenance Group (B.O.P.) and based in Miri, Sarawak as a support/specialist engineer . I have also had considerable involvement in design of rotating equipment for the BARDEGG multi-billion Dollar gas project working for B.E.P. (Project Group).

My duties included:-

Coordinating a multi-discipline team of engineers. Providing technical support services (expertise, consultation, design advice and trouble shooting) to front line maintenance supervisors/ technicians for company facilities offshore and onshore. Technical review of new equipment. Raising and implementing plant changes. Monitoring and upgrading computerized Preventative Maintenance Program (TEROMAN).Condition monitoring of rotating equipment. On going training of local graduate engineers(a minimum of 35% of work time was dedicated to training). Checking specifications and technical evaluation of bids on rotating equipment(BARDEGG Project).

APRIL 1989 TO JANUARY 1990:

Sarawak Shell.

Field Engineer. Experience similar to March 1981 to June 1987.

Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer.

I work in the SES/13 Department. This department functioned both as technical back up for the maintenance / operations department and as a design department on matters concerning rotating/mechanical equipment. Employed on a manpower contract via Mechnico.

My duties included:-

Investigating maintenance/operational problem areas and making recommendations based on technical and cost evaluation. Management of plant changes from conceptual stage through to as built drawings. Analyzing vibration readings. Monitoring and upgrading computerized Preventative Maintenance Program (MAIS/EPMARS/TEROMAN). On new projects/plant upgrades:- checking design/drawing packages, attending Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS), witnessing commissioning and testing, reviewing documentation/handover packages and accepting on behalf of the maintenance department.

Senior Commissioning Eng./Team Leader/ company rep. / project manager

Employed on manpower service contract via Global Engineering / Spencer / Shapadu. Responsible for commissioning and testing of integrated plant systems after construction, vendor and yard testing/inspection of mechanical equipment. I have been appointed commission team leader on almost all projects, responsible for implementing commissioning procedures and testing for all disciplines. Due to staff shortages in other departments I have often become involved in construction supervision and co-ordination. On occasions I have acted as Company Rep. During final stages of the condensate stabilization, effluent plant, emulsion and wax treatment plants at Bintulu acted as ELC/1 (project manager) holding the budgets for these projects as well as being responsible for all construction and commissioning.

My duties included:-

Checking equipment specifications and drawings and were necessary recommending design changes. Drafting and implementing test procedures for various mechanical equipment. Vendor visits for testing/ factory acceptance/inspection, also yard and offshore/site testing of equipment and plant. Preparing and implementing start up procedures. Preparing work packs and check sheet packs with overviews. Reporting on any deviations to specification/standards. Listing any changes in design and recommended future design changes from experience gained in field. Preparing and following up punch list. Responsible for Q.A. at all stages of project. Handing over plant/equipment to operations/maintenance department at the end of the project. Reviewing vendor documentation

I was involved in offshore oil and gas projects, but some involvement with onshore terminals.

Major projects worked on included:-

JANUARY 1980 to JANUARY 1981.

ARAMCO.

Maintenance Engineer.( Multi-craft).

Employed on direct contract. Responsible for all maintenance carried out by multi-craft crews on oil field water injection system in Saudi Arabia.

My duties included:-

Scheduling and planning of maintenance. Implementing plant changes. Handling contracts from proposal stage through to signing completion report. Trouble shooting and fault finding.

The water injection system has a total capacity of 2 million barrels per day. The system includes large pumps & compressors driven by electrical motors and gas turbines up to 30,000 h.p.

NOVEMBER 1974 to DECEMBER 1979:

Mechanical Eng.(Commissioning/Maint.)

During the last 3 years of this period I was seconded to AECI (South Africa) for the commissioning of their Coalplex Plant. I work on the chlorine, caustic, brine, hydrogen and effluent plants.

My duties included:-

Inspection and reporting on plant from early days of construction. Checking design and specification. Liaisons with contractors and manufactures. Preparation of maintenance manuals, lubrication schedules, relief valve and pressure vessel schedules. Carrying out HAZOPS. Expediting spares. Writing out commissioning procedures/check sheets and implementing. Preparing and following up punch list.

After commissioning, my main involvement's were:-

Organizing the training of artisans .Setting up computerized preventative maintenance system(PIMS).Planning major shutdowns Responsible for maintaining a high standard of workmanship and supervision of more technical work. Modification to plant from original proposal through to completion report.

2 years previous to this I worked as a maintenance fitter at ICI Runcorn, UK, working on a similar chemical plant. 1973 to 1974.

Bold Power Station, UK.

Shift Maintenance.

Working without supervision. Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of large steam turbines, boilers and auxiliary equipment, also planned maintenance and overhauls. Much of the work involved trouble shooting.

1967 TO 1973

Merchant Navy.

Engineering Officer.

Served on steam and motor driven ships between 6,000 & 24,000 tons. Passenger and cargo ships. Equipment included slow and medium speed diesel engines, steam turbines and boilers. 1
